Welcome to LunaNova’s blog series on Blockchain Governance.

These are designed to be a series sharing some of the inner workings of protocol governance for selected blockchains. We consider that the way protocols are governed to be of the utmost importance and are determined to play as active a part as we can in the governance of the networks we support.

Why do we see this as important?

Any organization is only as effective as the direction it takes, the values it holds and the culture it cultivates. This is a challenge for conventional organizations, it is notoriously difficult for decentralized ones. Indeed it often significantly affects whether the organization is decentralized at all.

Why is decentralization important?

Because ideally blockchains are not controlled by a central authority, but by the entire network of participants, who establish the rules for participation themselves and can elect to evolve the system according to consensus; thus making them censorship-resistant.

Isn’t this just bureaucracy?

Yes, if it is not managed properly. The converse is that, without some form of governance, politics and other influences start to prevail.

Our observations stem from several years of active governance participation during which we have designed, developed and evaluated such systems. We look forward to sharing and debating the governance in action of a select few blockchains.

If you are a token holder for any of the blockchains we are involved in then you can support our work in this area by delegating tokens to our professional validator operations.
